Frozen Opulence Editorial Project
Constructing Atmosphere Through Editorial Post-Production
This project draws inspiration from Wisdm Kaye, whose distinctive approach to fashion, styling and contemporary visual culture demonstrates how clothing, colour and presentation can become part of a wider artistic identity. Throughout this project, I also used myself as the model, teaching myself self-portrait photography to develop my understanding of posing, lighting and creative direction.
It is also informed by the experimental image-making of Nick Knight, particularly his willingness to push photography beyond documentation through digital manipulation and graphic intervention.
A further influence is Carlijn Jacobs, whose fashion editorials combine sculptural lighting, minimal compositions and bold colour palettes to create images that feel simultaneously commercial and conceptual. Her work reinforces the idea that post-production can be an integral part of the photographic process rather than simply a finishing stage.
Rather than replicating the work of these creatives, I analysed elements of their visual language including styling, colour, composition and experimentation and applied these ideas to develop the editorial aesthetic and personal style I was aiming to build. Together, these influences encouraged me to treat photography as the foundation for constructing complete editorial identities rather than isolated images.
